Lynda Day George
Star of the Original Mission: Impossible TV Series
Lynda was born in San Marcos, Texas as Lynda Louise Day. She spent summers during high school in New York working for the Ford modeling agency doing magazines, TV ads and catalogs. She met her future husband (Christopher George) while doing a photo shoot. They would soon co-star in the movie The Gentle Rain. Her career continued with guest roles on many television series of the 1960s, including Route 66, Flipper, Here Come the Brides, The Green Hornet, Mannix, The Fugitive, The Invaders, It Takes a Thief, The Virginian, and Bonanza. She landed her first major role as Amelia Cole in the television series, The Silent Force (1970), and later starred in the television pilot for Cannon in 1971. The producers of Mission: Impossible, upon seeing Lynda in The Silent Force, offered her the role of Casey for the upcoming sixth season of the series. For her work on Mission: Impossible, Lynda would receive a Golden Globe nomination in 1972 and an Emmy Award nomination in 1973. While she did appear in some theatrical films like Chisum, most of her work was on the small-screen including notable roles on mini-series such as Rich Man, Poor Man and Roots. During the 1970s Lynda was brought into our living rooms almost every week. Be it a series or a talk show or game show, she was there with a smile. Lynda eventually went into cult horror films where she starred with he husband, Christopher George. Films include: Day of the Animals (1977), Pieces (1982), and Mortuary (1983). She also co-starred in the 1980 Beyond Evil. Christopher died of a heart attack in November of 1983.
Linda loves and is a fan of the classic radio shows of yesteryear and is excited to participate in the SHOWCASE event saluting those golden days of radio.
For the two years that Lynda appeared on the original Mission Impossible series, the character she portrayed was known only as Casey. In the revival series ,filmed on location in Australia (1988-1990), Terry Markwell portrayed an agent named Casey Randall who was captured and killed in the twelfth episode of the new series. A few episodes later, Lynda Day George reprises her role of Casey from the original series. However, her character was given the first name “Lisa” in order to avoid confusion with the character of Casey Randall. Since then, Lynda’s character is almost always referred to as Lisa Casey when in fact during the original run of the show it was simply Casey.
